The sky above the port was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel.
What an opening line. I finally started reading Neuromancer, and only 25 pages in, it’s already super obvious why this book is regarded as ground zero for all of cyberpunk.
No hand-holding just Case, black-market cyberware, and terms like ice and simstim. It’s wild to think this was written way back in 1984 before the web was even a thing. Pretty much everything we see in sci-fi and gaming today traces right back to these exact pages.
Honestly, I’m loving it so far and I’m intentionally taking it slow because I really just want to have a nice bedtime routine with this book as a companion.
